Online marketing starts with your website

Internet marketing allows you to reach a global audience. Internet marketing is marketing your business online. Online marketing starts with your website; make sure it???s attractive and easy to use. When they need information, modern-day consumers turn first to the Internet. All of your online marketing will make sure they will find

If you think that spending your money on paid listings and banner ads is the best way to drive quality traffic to your website and augment your sales potential, think again. These days, people do care about what you have to say as they would like to gauge your expertise. They would like to know if you can offer them the kind of information they need before they would seriously consider doing business with you. Right now, the best way to showcase your knowledge is through writing and submitting your articles online.

Here are the 4 powerful steps to accelerate your article marketing:

1. To easily drive qualified traffic to your website, you must write about topics that are closely related to your products and services. For instance, if you are selling laptops, writing articles about mobile phones might drive people to your website, but they will surely not buy your offering as they were looking for information about mobile phones in the first place.

2. Be an expert. When you sink your teeth into article marketing, you automatically get the responsibility of giving quality information to online users. Thus, it would help if you can make yourself more knowledgeable about your chosen niche by constantly reading related reading materials either through online or offline resources.

3. Use attention-grabbing titles. The competition in getting online users' attention cannot be stiffer these days. To give your articles an edge, you need to power up your titles. Make them more interesting, intriguing, and highly descriptive of the content of your articles.

4. Use keywords. Don't forget the search engines when writing your articles. You need to please them so they will index your articles and make them highly searchable online. Download a reliable keyword suggestion tool that can help you figure out the most searched keywords within you chosen niche. Use these keywords all throughout your content to make your articles search engine-friendly.

Viral marketing is a methods of list building

There are multiple methods of list building, and if you are just getting started, until you have gained mastery over one or two methods, it is advisable to use multiple methods of list building strategies. You’ll see every step of the process, no matter how small, in exacting detail so

As you might have guessed by now, article marketing is my favorite form of traffic.

By the way, what is article marketing traffic? Article marketing traffic is traffic that is created when I write articles about the topics that will interest people who would buy from me in the future, put links in my articles to web pages on my site (in my case, squeeze pages on my site), and submit those articles to the various online article directories.

So why does article marketing create such high quality traffic?

This is how article marketing works, on the visitor end: someone reads my article after searching for their desired subject online and my article has come up in the top ten results in the search engine. They read my article, and many of them click out of my article without reading any further or without clicking into my site.

That is the most important part! That is my screening process! I get rid of the deadbeats, the people who dont like me, who dont like my name or my ideas, or whatever. That means that only qualified people will get to my web site!

So this means that since only qualified people will get to my web site, then I have a list of people who are much more highly qualified than just about anybody else in my niche.

There is an incredible screening process that goes on with article marketing, that just doesnt happen with PPC or classified advertising, or banner advertising, or just about any other advertising online. It just doesnt happen with the other sources of traffic but it does happen with article marketing.

Do you want to learn more about how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide to article marketing success, Your Article Writing and Promotion Guide

A high ranking in the search engine is very important to any webmaster on the net. It is without doubt the best place to have a searcher on the internet find your website. If you wish to have swarms of free traffic coming to your website on an ongoing basis, then you need to make sure that your keywords are placed in the top 1-5 positions when a search uses the keywords you use to optimize your web pages. So how do we get high rankings in the search engines?

First off, you need to make sure that you have your web pages fully optimized for the search engines so that they understand exactly what your website is all about! The search engines need to know what your site is about in order to display your pages to the searchers. How do they do this? They can identify what your web pages are about when they look at the title tag, the header tags, bold tags and the keyword density within the text content. Basically, if you are targeting a keyword like "Salmon fishing" then you will want to include it in the title tag, header tags and throughout the content both at the top and at the bottom.

You then need to acquire back links for your web pages. In case you are unfamiliar with the term back links. A back link is when a website/web page has a link in the form of an anchor text of your url pointing to your web page. This in the eyes of the search engines is classed as a vote to your web page. The more votes you get from other web pages, the higher you will climb in the search engines. However, it is advised that you try and get web pages that have a high page rank with a your link pointing back to your web page or site.

Not every website can give you a quality vote. If you get a vote from a website that has a high page rank it will be more beneficial to you. Just be careful of websites that can actually damage your ability to rank high. Most of the time, these sites are spammy and linking to them will harm your rankings!

Following these guidelines you should be well able to boast your keyword optimized pages in the search engines. It important to make sure you are on top of the game and your competitors.

I use a piece of software that really helps me with my SEO on my websites. It saves me a lot of time and money and boasts traffic to my sites. I have had web pages that rank in the top 5 position for very competitive keywords thanks to this software. What to know what it is? Then please visit the link below

Three Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories

To all writers and non-writers out there, now is the time to start digging up those creative writing skills. With modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is

Every online marketing plan includes search marketing. Though search marketing is no doubt effective, consider that organic SEO can take anything between 6-9 months to get your site listed. With keyword prices going through the roof, PPC ads are proving to be frightfully expensive.

Getting a decent rank in the major search engines is a long drawn out battle and more often than not, those with the bigger marketing budgets win. What then is the alternative? Viral marketing.

But what is viral marketing? Viral marketing is defined as a strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, creating the potential for exponential growth in the marketing message's exposure.

Here are some viral marketing tactics that can help you stand out in the cluttered online world, without paying through your nose:

Email Forwards

This is the most simple and low-cost viral tactic. You'll get more forwards if your email content is funny, controversial or shocking. It can be a cool photograph or just plain text. Be careful not to let your brand's message be too overt or your email will end up in spam folders.

Tell a Friend Offer

Put in a "Tell a Friend" box on the end of online promotional offers. Visitors seeing the offer will happily pass it on to their network of friends.

Funny Video Clips

Nowadays, witty and humorous video clips are wildly popular. They go a long way in creating brand awareness with no media spend. With video sharing sites like YouTube getting over 100 million hits day, viral videos more often than not cover their cost of production.

Online Games

Sponsor an online game. On an average, gamers spend up to 20 minutes per play. That's 20 whole minutes for your brand to quietly make its presence felt in the background as a sponsor.

Flash Games

If you cannot afford to sponsor a high-end online game, consider creating a low-budget, fun Flash game. Send it out to all your friends and associates. Remember to include your website URL in the game.

Free Downloads

Offer a free digital download. It could be a free ebook, screen saver or software program, but bear in mind that your free download should be useful and unique.

Branded Microsites

Branded microsites are favored by many of the bigger advertisers. Burger King's http://www.subservientchicken.com did wonders for the brand online and offline. Ditto with Axe's http://www.axefeather.com

Branded microsites may be a bit expensive but the more than make up with the buzz factor, eyeballs and backlinks.

Article Marketing

To build effective and lasting online popularity there is nothing better than publishing quality content on a regular basis. If your articles are picked by bloggers and webmasters, they will boost your rankings quickly and without much effort.

Finding the most popular keywords on the internet is pretty easy. If you guessed sex was the most popular searched for keyword, award yourself a "congratulations".

But the most popular keywords vary by season. Halloween has its own special set of keywords, so does Christmas, etc.

Likewise, the market you are targeting will have its own batch of popular keywords.

There are various tools you can use to find the most popular keywords. Some are free, such as Google's keyword tool, others are chargeable, such as Wordtracker. Whichever you choose, make sure you spend time to check out how popular your chosen keywords are.

The idea is to find keyword phrases that real live people are searching for. It doesn't matter what other people on the internet - whether they're in your industry or not - are targeting. If your industry jargon says that people are interested in "real time rendering", for example, that may or may not be what real people are searching for. Take the time to find out. Use all the different reference tools available to you.

For instance, Wordtracker will offer up a string of related terms. Or at least terms their computer thinks are related. Use your commonsense to check into these. Sometimes they are good suggestions, sometimes they are red herrings. But you won't know until you check.

If you don't subscribe to Wordtracker, use an online Thesaurus to find related keywords. Or go to the pages that your original search brings up and read the pages. See how else they phrase your search. You may be pleasantly surprised at the results.

Once you've found your keywords that are popular with searchers, you will need to construct web pages, adverts and other ways of attracting people to your site. But that's another topic entirely!

Article Marketing on the Internet is a whole different story

Article Marketing on the Internet is a whole different story because of the way your articles reach humans who have an interest in them. Article Marketing will help you increase your link popularity, search engine positioning for your keywords and phrases, and it helps you reach more potential customers for your products or services.

Link building is almost the synonym of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ever since the infamous link bombing that leads people who search for miserable failures in Google to our president George W. Bushs resume on official white house website. Of course, Bushs resume page has nothing to do with the term miserable failures which not really many will search for in the search engine. And the Bushs presidency is up to history to judge.

So every Joe and Mary want quality links to their websites. Thats what Google has been repeatably telling webmaster community too if anyone asks the question why my site didnt rank well. Its a consensus that quality links is the decisive factor in search engine positioning. However, the difference in many cases is that different webmasters or link builders may have totally different criteria or opinions what is a quality or good link.

Webmasters new to the SEO playfield believe a link from a page with a high PageRank (PR) is a quality link. A pages PR is a numeric value visually displayed on Googles toolbar if you have installed one on your IE browser. Knowledgeable site owners realize that a quality link is a link from a high PR site relevant to your site. Not quiet that simple. Therere quality links that are PR0 (Google updates PR about every quarter). Its more likely that Google updates only a portion of index database for toolbar in every update. Thats one of reasons many see no change of their homepage PR for a year even though they havent stopped link building. On the other hand, we often see PR0 pages rank well for not-very-competitive keywords.

Many high PR and relevant links arent really necessary quality links. In the process of helping hundreds of clients promote their websites - SEO service or link building, we have received all types of different link requests. Some want to certain types of links and others dont want to links built from certain types of techniques. The truth is that its really not about the types of links you get. Theres a huge quality difference for the same types of links. Its not about what techniques you use to build links, and its about how you use each technique to acquire links.

Theres a simple way to see whether a link is a true quality link. For a particular search term, if a page is in top 200 or top 1,000 in a particular search engine (Google, Yahoo or MSN), the links from those pages are true quality links for that search engine. Yes, a quality link in Google may not be a quality link for Yahoo and MSN. You wont find many or any of those pages from high PR directory pages which will charge you $20 to $40 or even more for a listing. The reason is simple. The links to those directory pages arent relevant to the content of those pages. Links from those pages are high PR, relevant to your page, but they arent true quality links.

The concept of coaching is a well accepted principle in any plan for success. Its value in the business world and athletic arena are tested and true guidelines to reaching goals and aspirations. One of my favorite movies was Glengary Glen Ross with Alec Baldwin.

In the movie, Alec Baldwin was a tough as nails sales manager. He coined the term "ABC". It meant "always be closing". He used the term frequently throughout the movie. Constantly pounding and barking in the heads of the sales people to close the deal.

Guess what?

There is a similar term that you should embed in your head as it directly relates to building a list. It's a powerful concept that you should understand and apply to your list building tactics today.

I call it "ABT." It means "Always Be Testing."

This one term literally separates the winners from the losers. Now I realize you may not exactly know what to test and how to test. Frankly, that's a common problem so don't feel bad.

To give you some examples, testing could include:

1) Where your traffic is coming from and the quality of it
2) Components on your opt-in page
3) The entire conversion process from interested party to new subscriber
4) The choice to include graphics or exclude them

You are probably thinking that there is an overwhelming amount of things you can test. And it's true - the number of things you can test is virtually endless.

And that's the rub or in less fancy words - the problem. People often get so confused by testing - they just decide to avoid it all together.

But that would be a bad move. So in my grizzled Alec Baldwin voice I say to you - "Always Be Testing."

When I first started to write a weekly article for my local paper, The Tallahassee Democrat, back in 1994, I was thrilled to be able to reach about 200,000 potential readers with my articles on relationships.

After the weekly column became syndicated around the world, it grew to the reach it has today of about 8 - 10 million people a week.

While that sounds like a lot, and in some ways it certainly is, there is another method I use to get my articles in front of even more people than a newspaper. This method is posting your articles to the article directories. How to Reach Those You Would Never Reach Otherwise

Article directories exist to supply quality content to people with web sites, blogs and newsletters. When you submit your article to an article directory, those folks with web sites, blogs and newsletters come to the article directory, take your article from the directory and use it on their web sites, blogs and newsletters. Now your article is being presented to their list of subscribers, people they have worked hard to add to their list, and you would not have been able to reach otherwise.

And if all this was not cool enough, do you realize that with most article directories you get to do all this for free. All it really costs you is time and energy.

The more eyes that you can get your articles in front of, the more traffic, prospects, publicity, subscribers, customers and profits you will gain.

When you really get the power of this, you will want to write and submit as many articles as you possibly can.

And when you are ready to write more articles in less time than you ever thought possible, and many other article writing and marketing strategies, I invite you to check out my telecourse at http://www.ArticleWritingandMarketingSecrets.com

Marketing with articles is an easy and profitable endeavor, if done correctly.

Follow these 6 tips to dramatically improve your article writing marketing skills:

1. Not everyone writes well enough to convince readers to act. You should have someone evaluate your articles and give you honest feedback on their reaction. If the feedback is negative and you feel you can't write better, you can pay a ghostwriter to write your articles for you at a few dollars a pop. However, the more you write, the better you'll get. So, keep working at it.

2. Take the time to test your author's resource box. Write a few different versions and see which seems to draw in more visitors to your the site you are pointing your reader to. Allow enough trials to make sure it is your resource box content that is working and not just the article itself. Test it until you have around 500 views for each version before you change anything.

3. If people aren't visiting your website like you want, something isn't working within your articles. Try changing your resource box. Compare yours to other authors' articles that write about similar topics. Can you change something to make it work better? Use others as a reference.

4. Many article directories do not allow software submitters. Manually submit to the best sites and hire a submission company to submit to the rest. Don't use the software intended for this unless you feel it is completely necessary. Quality always outweighs quantity.

5. Schedule a designated amount of time to write and submit articles into your work schedule. It can be daily, every few days, weekly, etc. If you want a lot of links in a short period of time, try submitting an article every day for an entire month. After that month, it doesn't matter whether you submit one on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule. The important thing is that you take action and actually do write and submit on a regular basis. Do Something!

6. Spelling and grammar are more important than you may realize. Never submit an article until you have checked it at least twice for spelling errors and grammatically incorrect sentences. Don't allow these two things to be your downfall. Spelling errors are an article reviewers pet peeve and they will make you correct them before they accept it.

Just what are the Benefits of Submitting Articles to E-Zines

E-zine advertising is perhaps one of the most underused forms of promotion. It is a good idea to do your homework, before launching your viral marketing campaign. Article writing and publishing has become the latest buzz in the internet website marketing world. The name of the game as far as Internet marketing

Writing articles related to your book's topic is a great way to drive traffic to your blog or your website. More visibility on the web keeps those little SEO spiders fed and improve your rankings. More exposure means more visitors to your site. The more articles you get out there with your signature line (that includes your web and blog addresses) the more back-links you get.

Each article should be between 300 and 700 words (some allow for up to 3000 but who reads that large of an item on the web unless it is for academic purposes?) and should be key word rich without being key word stuffed. Once you article written, edited for tightness and cohesion, and proofed it is ready to post...after you put it on your blog first! (This is to avoid getting a duplicate content slap on the wrist by some directories.) After the final version of your article is prepared and your resource signature block is perfected (all links to you and your blogs and websites are to be found here and NOT in the articles themselves):

Prepare a list of directories to submit the article

For each submission site the article requires a different title and rework some of the content (change the intro and closing and perhaps add an extra point of discussion)

Submit to no more than 2-3 directories a day. This allows the little spiders to do their work properly.

Now sit back, and watch your traffic increase. As you share your knowledge and expertise you develop an audience who will recognize you as a content authority resulting in more visits to your site. It is a very satisfying experience to watch your articles take on a life of their own.

Making Money with Your Blog!

Link popularity is the number of links pointing to a website. It is an important factor that major search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN use to rank web pages.

Webmasters figure out that in order for their web pages to rank well at the search engines for certain keywords, they need a lot of incoming links with these targeted key words. Linking schemes of all kinds were hatched...mini-sites, site networks, link farms and reciprocal linking, just to mention a few. Some schemes like link farms were clear indication of manipulating the search engines.

Google has clamped down on such practices and further fine-tuned its SERP algorithm to stop manipulation by anyone as evidenced by 'Jagger'.

Focus on the long term. Build a site that is credible to the search engines and your website visitors.

Here are 7 ethical link-building strategies for you work with...

1. Internal linking. Having a well organized internal linking structure insures that your website gets 'spidered' and that all pages of your website gets indexed by the search engines. This in turn increases the chances of the number of phrases that your website has the potential to rank for. And I have had website traffic from key phrases that I never thought of.

2. One-way links. Human edited directories look like a thing of the past. With Google being more efficient and accurate as ever there's no need to turn to human edited directories. A directory may get you a few click-throughs in a month or none at all. However, to be listed in a high quality directory like DMOZ and Yahoo can increase your PageRank.

The way to get inbound links is distribute content. There are many article directories on the Internet. Just include a link in your article. With article distribution you can choose the exact anchor text for the link.

3. Reciprocal links. What is reciprocal linking? It is simply trading links with other sites. You add their links to your site and vice versa. In times past website owners have sizeable directories with multiple links that are not relevant to theirs. Now, search engines have become wiser and look for link relevance. A word of advice here, know whom you are trading link with. Don't just choose any Tom, Dick, Harry or toothless Jane to be your link partners.

People have asked whether they would be penalized by the search engines for reciprocal links. Well, at least for now, they are still acceptable.

4. Varied the Text of your inbound links. It will not appear natural to the search engines for every site that links to you to have the same link description. So vary the text of your inbound links using a few key phrases.

5. Grow your links at a steady rate. Google penalizes new sites with low-traffic that grow their links too quickly, whereas a well-established high traffic site that increases by a few thousand links a month will viewed as normal. The rate at which links are created without being penalized by Google, is directly proportional to the age of the website. For owners of new sites, bear this in mind, if you are thinking about buying inbound links.

6. Have inbound links from different ranking sites. If all your inbound links are Pr6 and Pr7 sites, then you will send a strong indication that you have purchased those links. Your inbound links will not appear natural to the search engines. It is more natural for you to have a large number of Pr1 and Pr2 inbound links with decreasing number of inbound links as you move higher up the PageRank scale.

7. Actively participate in forums or blogs. Don't just post threads indiscriminately on forums. Search engines view this as spamming. Participate in forums to learn and to contribute to the communities and at the same time gather inbound links. You will also build credibility for yourself and your business if you are a solution to people's problems.

Blogging is an effective way of gathering inbound links. If you have a personal blog, it is easier to post comments at other sites. But do spam blast your comments with advertisements. Just provide a link to your site with your comments. Your goals are to gather inbound links and to gain a good reputation online. Comment intelligently on the specific subject. A well thought out comment will not only attract the search engines, but also more readers of the blog to your website. They will naturally link to you if they find articles of good quality at your website.

To achieve good rankings at the Search Engine through link popularity requires time and patience. Stick to the sound practices of link building. Impatience could cause you to incur penalties. It was once rumored, but now quite evident that Google uses a 'sandbox' to keep questionable sites in the hold until they have aged to a point. Then they are released at the sole discretion of Google. Other search engines also have their own safeguards to keep their SERPs from being cluttered with questionable sites.

The underlying principle is to grow your links 'organically' whilst adding content of value to your website. Ethical SEO is not a black art. It is a matter of adhering to the guidelines, terms and conditions stipulated by the search engines.

In my mind, instead of technical considerations dictating what we should try to achieve, we marketing managers should dictate what we want and then find the technical solutions to achieve it. I know that this attitude annoys the technocrats who seem to dominate the online marketing world, but my approach has proved successful in its own right.

I have always seen SEO as a two-stage process. The first is to make sure that a client's website is search engine friendly. This process analyses the structural elements of the site to make sure that search engines are able to see ALL the pages of the site and are able to rank (judge) each page in its own right. It's a lengthy analysis that covers many aspects of the site but it's largely a one-off project. Once done, and once the site has been improved accordingly, the techies' work is more or less done.

The larger, second step is all-important and all about the content of the site itself.

For a site to achieve good rankings, we need to first select the right keywords. I won't go into the science of keyword research and selection, but once the best ones have been selected for a client, we need to move into the realm of writing, sprinkling certain keywords strategically throughout the text and the code of each page. It's not just this keyword enhanced copy that requires excellent writing though - link building, press releases, social media - the common denominator for all of these is good writing and communication skills, combined with good old-fashioned common sense, which most technically minded people aren't best suited to provide. It is the writers and communicators - not the programmers - who have delivered our best results in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

There is a rather tacky expression in the SEO community that says "Content is King". I would like to get a little tackier if I may: If content is King, then the up and coming Princes of SEO must surely be the writers and communicators.

Just a thought ... and I look forward to comments.

The reason why some webmasters use articles from free content directories is to drive targeted traffic to their website and to increase their income. More and more site owners have seen the effects articles have done for the traffic of their sites.

Article marketing is a very good method, especially for those new entrepreneurs who have just begun to work as an affiliate for several different companies and are in need of funding, yet at the same time they need to build a small niche website to steer visitors towards their site so they are able to begin earning income.

Writing and submitting new articles is a crucial part of any website promotion strategy. A well written, informative article helps to build your credibility in your subject area. The links in the article resource box provide targeted traffic and effectively help to optimize your site for the search engines.

Writing and submitting new articles to article directories is an continuously task that should be performed at least on a weekly basis. Each article that is approved and published by an article directory is "hot" only for a day or two. This is because it will be displayed on the "latest articles" pages which receive more traffic than the category pages. A new article will typically remain in Google primary search results for only a week or two before it will be sent to the supplementary index. You should keep in mind though that most articles submitted in bulk to many directories will be interpreted as duplicate content and will end up in the supplemental index.

This is the reason why it is so important to submit your articles on a regular, frequent basis. If you submit at least one article a week, then you will always have a few articles that are in the primary index and getting more readers.

Submitting new articles to article directories might not be enough though. Promoting your articles while they are still "hot" is also very important. One of the most powerful promotional methods is to take advantage of the explosive growth of social bookmarking sites.

Social bookmarking sites like Delicious, Reddit, Digg and Technorati allow users to bookmark and share their favorite web pages (blogs, dynamic or static web pages, articles and so on). If you bookmark your articles in various directories, you can increase the number of people that are exposed to your article. As they click through on your headline and they read your article, they may choose to click your active hyperlink to visit your website, bringing you indirect, but targeted traffic.

The more links an article has pointing to it, the better it will rank in the search results, so these links have a very important SEO value as well. Social bookmarking sites are a very powerful tool to get more links pointing to your articles, providing a higher ranking in the search results.

By its own, article marketing is an extremely effective method to promote your site and improve your search engine optimization, but by taking advantage of the viral nature of social bookmarking, you can dramatically increase the range of your audience and ultimately, bring more visitors to your site.
