Recently, I was totally bewitched by my marketing strategies. After having discovered auto responders several months earlier, I became extremely engrossed in analyzing the names from these lists. The world almost stopped except for a couple of phone calls and appointments.

What I learned is that at least 20% of names on one list are involved in real estate. By investing some time in researching the names, I was able to secure the physical addresses and sent those individuals some lumpy mail. Did you know that lumpy mail (something lumpy inside an envelope gets opened first?

I recognized that I was not doing enough relationship building with those on the lists. On Monday of this week, I sent a broadcast email to one list and received a 5% returned response. From those who responded, I sent follow up emails thanking them. And if they included their physical address, they too received some lumpy mail.

Sometimes we become bewitched by our marketing strategies. We either allow the existing marketing efforts to continue or we become so enthralled by the analyzing we fail to take other actions such as writing in a daily blog if you have one. Striking a balance is always difficult. However, we cannot be so bewitched by our actions that we fail to measure and manage them.

If you are using an auto responder, then make sure you take some time to truly analyze your lists to help you increase sales. Next send them something via snail mail if that is possible. Acknowledge their sign-ups especially if you have asked them to respond to a question.

Remember, this is the first step in your marketing and sales funnels especially if you are embracing relationship selling. By just relying on the bewitching of technology through auto responders, you may be casting a bad spell on your sales results.
